I have been living and working in Japan for the last 20 years, mainly in the Shibuya area of Tokyo. I enjoy photography, golf and writing about Japan.

I particularly like the Japanese character goods and how they get used with major brands. Most countries don’t encourage their brands to be cute and friendly like Japan does.

You can see his live posts up until now in his live stream.
A few words from Chris below.
I’ve been living in Japan for about 10 months now and plan to stay for the future. I live in Saitama, and work with Danny at Mirai Inc in Tokyo, so I get to enjoy the peaceful community life in Saitama whilst experiencing the city life of Tokyo. I hope you enjoy my photos and a big thanks to Danny for inviting me to post. Will be inviting more Live Bloggers to bring you life from Tokyo as it happens. A few guidelines for up n coming Live Bloggers.
Live Blogging is for folks who want to share their daily life and introduce some of the local culture at the same time.
The Live Blogging feature is linked to your dannychoo.com account – your signature is displayed on each post so there is no need for a "see more at my blog." The current signature is a bit small but I will make it bigger.
The idea is to not only share your life but to also build your online brand and if you are constantly doing a "you-must-visit-my-blog-for-more" thing then you loose reputation.
Folks who are invited to Live Blog should upload images to their Flickr account from their mobile device. The email to use is here > www.flickr.com/account?tab=email
You must also enable the "Who can download your stuff" to "Anyone" – this is because we can fetch the original size of your image.
Photos must *not* be wider than 900px.
Photos should be of relatively good quality. the iPhone takes good pics depending on the steady hand. Folks using an iPhone should post in the default 800px x 600px format.
Live bloggers should tag photos uploaded to Flickr from their phone with "mg_iphone"
Only approved accounts will have their Live Blogging photos show up on dannychoo.com
Photos should ideally be posted soon after they are taken. If one has bad reception, then post as soon as you can.
I recommend Perfectly Clear to folks using an iPhone to brighten up their pics (if necessary) before posting.
I will most likely open World Live Blogging to DC users. So for example, we can see Otaku/Japan related stuff as it happens around the world in each country. If you are interested in becoming a World Live Blogger (or a Japan Live Blogger for that matter), then please post some examples of what you would like to share over at figure.fm.

Article Marketing Strategy – Write an Olympics Oriented Article This Week

Only once every couple years does the Olympics roll around, but when it does the eyes of the world are on these amazing athletes. We are inspired and moved by their stories, their determination, their hard work and competitive spirit. This is a great opportunity to incorporate an Olympics themed article into your article marketing strategy.

Your subject matter does not need to be sports oriented–no matter what your topic is, you can use the Olympics as the theme for you article.

Here are some ideas for you:

1 – What can Olympic athletes teach the people in your niche?

There are many possible angles you can take: setting long term goals, pushing yourself to reach your full potential, using dreams to motivate you, sacrifice, discipline, perseverance, heroism, sportsmanship–the list goes on and on.

2 – Write an article containing success tips of Olympians that can be used by people in your niche.

Olympic athletes are in the business of success–they train for it every day, and once every 4 years they have the opportunity to reap the fruits of their labors.

If an Olympic athlete were to speak to your target market giving tips on how to succeed, what would he or she say?

3 – Is there any story from this past Olympics that has particularly touched you?

There are so many dramatic stories behind these athletes. Maybe it was something heartbreaking or inspiring that happened during one of the competitions, or perhaps it is the dramatic personal journey of one athlete that sticks in your mind. What lessons did you learn from that story? How can you apply that lesson to your own life and your own work? Write an article about the lesson that you’ve learned through one of these athletes.

4 – Write an article about a new business goal that was inspired by watching the Olympics.

One of the reasons why the Olympics is such a inspiring experience is that we know that these athletes have been training for years and years, since they were children.

We know that they have made hard sacrifices to reach their goals and that competing in these games is the pinnacle of their careers. It’s inspiring to think that at the age of 3, 5, or 8 years old that these people had a vision of greatness for themselves that they truly believed could come true. It reminds us all that we often settle for just getting by when in fact we are capable of achieving much more.

What vision of greatness do you have for your business or your life? Write an article about how the Olympics helped you set your bar higher for yourself.

Conclusion:

Will you write an article inspired by the Olympics? I think that the Olympics is an evergreen topic. There is so much buzz every Olympics year, and so much anticipation of the next Olympics when it’s not an Olympics year. The Olympic Games is so much an enduring part of pretty much every culture on the planet that an article on this topic could be very powerful.

The Power of Article Marketing for Online Exposure

article marketing strategies question by wd5gnr: Selling your work?
My son is an aspiring photographer… his teachers think he’s pretty good and we do too, of course. He just bought a Nikon DSLR and is taking some excellent pictures. I bought him a photgrapher’s market (I’m familiar with the other end of this since I’ve been a magazine editor). So the question is, does anyone have tips for him about submissions or other strategies for marketing photos to magazines, stock services, etc. Oh, and he has had published work although it was accompanying articles I wrote (ahem!). But that still counts ;-)

Have your son submit his photographs to your county and state fairs and any photo contests you can locate. This will give him some public exposure(sorry about the pun) and bolster his resume.

Expectations must be realistic. Small, very local newspapers (school papers, weeklies) are an excellent place to gain skills and tear sheets for a portfolio. Not-for-profit organizations with regular newsletters often need photographers for events (where you meet the right people). Moving up a notch, internships at larger publications or a wire service can lead to being a “stringer” for part-time submissions. Stock photography is very competitive at the high-end (ie, GettyImages.com). Entry-level are places like iStockPhoto.com. If the quanlity is there, you can find a stock agency to represent the work at places like PACAoffice.org or StockAgencies.com. Trade associations for photographers can help to further the learning process (ie, NPPA.org, ASMP.org or StockArtists.org). And, please do learn the importance of copyright along the way. Best of luck.
